Dear Golf Trout Community,

As many of you know, last year’s scheduled 18th Annual Golf Trout Tournament was postponed due to the Corona Virus. We are mindful of Covid’s severe and ongoing impact on so many and hope you and those around you are surviving the pandemic in good health. The decision as to whether the event could, or even should go forward this year, was difficult, particularly considering the uncertainty surrounding the current environment. While we cannot predict the future, we are optimistic that with adherence to guidelines, and vaccinations on the rise, that with understanding and appreciation of the status of our medical and environmental health professionals, the event can be safely held this year. We hope you concur and will participate.

Funds raised through the tournament have fostered numerous stream improvement projects over the years. The current Pleasant Valley Project is nearing design completion and permitting, with anticipated equipment in the river late summer or fall.  We look forward to an enhanced fishing experience in what already is quality water.

As we plan for this year’s tournament, we are working to provide a fun and safe event for all participants.  The entry fee will remain the same as it has for the past few years. The schedule will be similar.  Here is a link to a short video of our most recent tournament.

Although some changes to the event will be necessary, including venue due to Covid, the spirit remains the same.  We plan to hold the event, as usual, on the weekend after Labor Day, September 10, 11 and 12, 2021.

Details regarding our customary Friday night water auction and team pairing is to be determined.  Catamount cannot host us this year due to backlog in bookings caused by Covid.  Perhaps we will be back next year but are looking for alternatives for Friday evening. An outdoor venue is under consideration.

Saturday includes a day of guided fishing on private water. Team fishing scoring and dinner at Three Peaks Grill will follow. We will endeavor to provide a safe and spacious environment for dinner for our participants and guests.

We have reserved Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club for Sunday morning, September 12th.  This Robert Trent Jones II designed course is a beautiful facility along Fish Creek with views of the Valley and Mt. Werner.  It has received multiple awards, including four-star ratings and “Best Places to Play in Colorado” from Golf Digest.

Of course everything is dependent on circumstances existing nearer the time of the Tournament.  We are committed to compliance with all Routt County Public Health Orders and will do everything possible to ensure a safe and healthy event.  If conditions prohibit such group events, we will alert everyone as soon as possible of cancellation and refund all entry fees promptly.

We would greatly appreciate your feedback and, if possible, let us know as to whether you have questions or are considering participation.  Even better, register your team. Registration will be limited to 12 teams, so please let us know as soon as you can if you wish to participate.    You can find the registration at: https://www.golftrout.com/sign-up

Great fishing and golfing with friends old and new, while contributing to the restoration of a very special stretch of our local water make us all winners in this tournament.

Thank you all for your understanding and continued support. I look forward to seeing many of you again and meeting new friends. Please join us!

If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch.
